What are WMI's main avenues of marketing?
WMI’s
most active form of advertising is expected to be through its new (Dec
‘00) website www.wmi.net.au. WMI in the United States also have a detailed
website (http://wmi.nols.edu) in which
more information about the Institute can be found. Through utilising internet
links with sponsors and supporters, WMI believes this avenue will be our
most effective marketing tool. However, even to this website being in
place, WMI has been very successful in filling courses by using the contacts
of sponsors, by advertising in various outdoor stores and through word
of mouth based on the very positive feedback from certified students.
We
are active in our advertising campaign sometimes featuring in newspapers,
outdoor magazines such as WILD, Outdoor Australia and Go Camping as well
as club/assocn. newsletters such as Climbing Assoc of WA, Friends of The
Bibbulmun, AMEC, AIG, AMF and several others. Our Instructors often act
as guest speakers giving many inspiration talks about wilderness medicine
at club and company meetings. Please feel free to contact WMI if this
is of interest to your group. WMI
has recently run a very successful ‘post conference” course following
the Victorian Outdoor Ed Conference that was advertised in their magazine.
WMI expects to run such courses as an adjunct to a wide range of both
Outdoor Ed and Geoscience Summits. In
addition to this WMI keeps a detailed database of all contacts made through
every avenue and is active in keeping interested students and sponsors
up to date with the latest courses within their region. In fact, we pride ourselves on being able to maintain great relationships with all our friends and colleagues in the world of wilderness medicine. |
